After 25 years of crime and addiction to cocaine and alcohol, Gabino was deported to Mexico where he struggled to break free. One night in desperation, he piled several crates on the floor and hung a noose from the ceiling. He planned to put his head through the noose and kick the crates from underneath. He cried out to the Lord one last time: "Lord, if you are real, show yourself to me." He opened his Bible and came straight to this verse:

"Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed." (John 8:36)

Gabino was liberated from sin in that moment and spent the rest of the night on his knees praising the Lord.

Gabino has now been free for 17 years and is following Christ. He is now married with two children and is sharing his testimony at rehabs and on the streets with Lighthouse of Holiness.

Doug was born in Allegan, Michigan in 1943. His life was spared on 3 occasions by the Lord, but Doug continued on the path of destruction. He joined the U.S. Army in 1963 where he served for 3 years, including a stint in Korea. He married shortly after completing his service, but his life had become plagued by alcoholism. In 1968, Doug attended a regular service at Diamond Springs Wesleyan Church in Hamilton Michigan where the pastor made an appeal to come forward. Doug made that step of faith and was rescued from his sin and his desire to drink. The Lord soon gave Doug a love for multicultural ministries. After going on short term mission trips to South Africa, Haiti, and Bolivia, Doug and his wife Marilyn were led to train to be missionaries at Kentucky Mountain Bible College. Although Doug still serves as a member in this same church in which he was saved, he has been spending His winters serving in Matamoros, Mexico. since 2000. At the age of 82, he heads work projects for Lighthouse and assists in ministering at rehabs and the mission. Doug remarried after his first wife went to be with the Lord.
